Went for sunday roast, wasn't that busy but took ages to take our order and when I asked if someone could take our order (about 20mins in) they looked at me dumbfounded. Food came after an age and the pigs in blankets were cold and raw. When they were replaced the portion size was halved (6 down to 3) (but they were taken off the bill). I ordered a pepsi max that never came but was on the bill. We were with our toddler and when i went to change him there was just an old changing matt shoved against a window. No actual changing facilties. Not enough space to change him on the floor or stalls so had to balance on counter where the sink was. Humiliating experience having to change a nappy so close to the sink where people are washing their hands while balancing my toddler so he doesnt slip off. Also no bins provided to put the used nappy and wipes in. Wont be returning.

A lovely local pub, with a great atmosphere. The food was ok to good. My beef and ale pie was very tasty. Unfortunately, they used packet gravy. My biggest issue was the service. I asked three times for mayonnaise, then later three times for the bill. Some small tweaks and would rate 4 stars all round.

If I could give it 4.5 I would. Food was lovely just a few minor issues with service being slow and one of the meals coming out wrong but they sorted it really quickly and they adjusted the bill without us even complaining. Our waitress was brilliant working in the dining area on her own.

Really good food, Sunday roast was excellent and the desserts were amazing, a good selection to choose from. Will definitely be back again.

Absolutely love this pub, the friendly atmosphere from the bar staff and the regulars is amazing and the food is outstanding. I often take my children here for dinner and have had many family meals out here with over 18 of us for special occasions. Highly recommended 👌

We booked the function room for a family 80th birthday party recently and I can honestly say it was faultless from start to finish. David went over and beyond in accommodating our needs. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was superb and the staff were attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend the Barley Mow!

I have no reservations of reporting the our experience at this Barley Mow was the worse we have endured anywhere. On arrival and on time there was no table prepared. We were asked if we would like to wait in the bar. The bar was stacked with dirty glasses and empty bottles. Our glasses were warm and there was no ice or lemon or lime. We were then given a table, which we feel was an afterthought alongside the exit door. People in and out and a cold draft was only the start. Talking of starters we were asked what we had booked. I showed them our booking on my phone and they took a picture of it. The starter, prawn cocktail was an example of what was to come. For £80 a head the presentation was poor. "When" the main meal arrived we were shocked to see just a pile of food on plates. The vegetables looked as if they were the leftovers. The parsnips and carrots were burnt on the edges and undercooked in the middle. The roast potatoes obviously reheated in a microwave. A small amount of gravey was present with no extra on our table. Not even the basics of salt and pepper. My venison pie was "just" okay but it was not without lumps of gristle and tough meat. My wife's meal was of a similar standard with a couple of thick lumps of turkey unceremoniously dumped on top of a pile of veg. The dessert was, we agree, acceptable. The young girl that served us was a treat. She was pleasant but rushed off her feet. We arrived dressed for the event as the dress code stated "business casual" but even the staff didn't quite make it. Sorry but, for a special meal on a special day at an extortionate price the experience was attroctious. Never again.

Beautiful independent & family-run pub with a lovely Sunday roast & good selection of ales. Some local specials as well as the crowd-pleasers. The potatoes in particular were excellent, and I was given extra as they’d run out of crackling. Staff were friendly but professional, attentive yet relaxed. The owner in particular was a joy and the prices were more than reasonable. Would highly recommend and will certainly be back.

Booked online prior to arriving with my girlfriend for a couples meal. When we arrived, a few of the tables were dirty with food / mess from previous people and the staff hadn’t wiped them down, just left there. The waitress then told us they had almost 70% of the menu unavailable! We specifically came for the Roast.. they could have called us before we made the journey over to let us know! We left and went somewhere else.Won’t be coming back or recommending.
